The week for re-entry: 3 tips to help you prepare for the Holiday finale’.

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas, Hanukah, or other Holiday celebration. This week is a pretty challenging one for endurance athletes. You are firmly in the throws of a celebratory week. New Year is fast approaching.

Here’s a great tip for all of you, who, like the rest of us attacked the food plates with reckless abandon.

  1. Enjoy this week. But… it’s time to start the mental shift toward next season's preparation. It all starts with mindset and intention. You can do this for personal and professional growth. Forget resolutions. Set intentions to start off the New Year.

  2. What does exercise mean to you? Your fit, fast and focused. However, do you have a healthy relationship with your training? Do you flog yourself for missing a workout? Not weighing yourself every day? Gained a pound? Lost a pound? Start the last week of the year by focusing on what training is for you. Is it adding to your overall well-being?

  3. Point the compass: If you have failed, post covid, to get back to a healthier/active lifestyle you need to set intentions and NOT resolutions. Don’t reflect back on all the mistakes. Recognize that you haven’t been as healthy as you could be and you want to get back to a healthier and happier lifestyle. Baby steps. This will be a slow process. Your compass simply needs to be recalibrated. Don’t try to undo a year or two of bad habits, in one day!
