A beautiful game.
For you non-sports fans…please stay with me. There is a purpose in this post….I promise!
Yesterday's World Cup Match was absolutely incredible. The two soccer rabid (aka football) countries of France and Argentina squared off in an epic contest. Argentina led 2-0 at the half. France comes back in the 2nd half to tie it. Overtime. Argentina scored in the mandatory 2-15 minute overtimes. Argentina was granted a penalty kick and consequently tied the match. We go to the “perpetually questionable way to end the biggest sporting event in the world”. Penalty kicks. Each team gets 5 kicks versus the opposing teams' goalie. Goalkeeper versus skill player. Argentina scores more than France (out of 5 attempts). Argentina wins the World Cup.
Now the compass moment 😉. Training/exercise/wellness, work and life can be very much like the goal that Argentina scored vs France. Beautiful. Precise. Well executed.
Sometimes it’s not perfect, but that’s ok. When I am coaching someone that is floundering or stuck, or not connecting the dots, I reassure them that it’s ok. We have to find the beauty in our imperfections and give ourselves a bit of a break. Make it a goal to score a goal, train when you aren’t locked in, or take a day off.
Tailwinds,
Chad
